THE CONTACT DMC GROUP TEAMBUILDING RESULTS IN DONATION TO ASPEN COMMUNITY SCHOOL

June 3, 2009

San Diego, CA June 3, 2009 - Members of the CONTACT DMC Group came together in Aspen, Colorado and took part in a "GREEN" teambuilding activity designed to raise their own awareness on environmental issues as well as make a meaningful investment in Aspen's future environment via a donation to the Aspen Community School, a local charter school.

"Corporate decision makers are all demanding that their events reflect a social responsibility" said Lex Lyon, Executive Director for CONTACT. "We are diligently working to increase our inventory of activities that increase participant's awareness while returning something tangible to the community at the same time."

The CONTACT company owners took time out of their meeting agenda to take part in a teambuilding experience called "Go GREEN Racing" organized by one of the most respected team building companies in the U.S., Impact 4 Good. At the outset, the group was told that their participation would result in a "green" donation to the local community - however the donation was kept a secret. During the two-hour activity, teams were tasked with building solar cars, recycled cars, and designing team flags exemplifying their environmental ethos. Half way through the activity, participants were greeted by surprise guests to help them with their tasks: students from the Aspen Community School (ACS). CONTACT DMC Group participants then learned that the solar cars, team flags, as well as brand new solar car classroom kits and classroom curricula would be donated to the ACS on behalf of CONTACT, and that the materials would be used in classrooms so that students could learn more about green transportation, alternative energy, and environmental conservation through hands-on exercises.

Since 1970 ACS has been committed to offering academic excellence in a safe small-school environment. Learning in small classes, and among children of mixed ages, encourages rapport and respect among students and teachers alike. The climate of openness allows curiosity to thrive, and individuality to shine. As a Colorado charter school, ACS does not receive full-state funding. Jim Gilchrist, Principal of ACS, stated, "Wow! My students had such a wonderful experience working with the CONTACT teams! They felt welcome and included. The solar car race was a big hit and really stimulated some terrific discussions upon the students' return to the classroom. We are doing a unit on climate change and energy alternatives next fall and this experience will fit right in."

The CONTACT DMC Group is the oldest of the destination management sales and marketing consortiums in North America. Member companies annually come together at this meeting to exchange the newest ideas for special events, sight seeing programs and in this case, a novel teambuilding event.
